First notes from NTIH

Some quick notes and photos from our big event on Integrated Healthcare after a critical illness
Photo: the space before as we set up

We held the first in a series of events on using natural health care elements after a critical illness (e.g. stroke, heart attacks, cancer) on Monday, October 19, 2009. The purpose of the evening was to open a dialogue between mainstream medicine, complementary health care practitioners, and the survivors to establish what are the most pressing issues from their perspectives in integrating natural health strategies like stress reduction, nutrition, exercise, supplements, and holistic therapies (or whole medical systems) into their regime.

The setting.
The venue was One King West - in the Grand Banking Hall (see inset picture). It's a gorgeous space, that used to be (as the name suggests) the banking hall of the TD Bank. It is beautifully-appointed with marble, large chandeliers, 35' ceilings, and large windows to let in daylight. After much deliberation, we chose a Mexican style dinner with grilled chicken and steak strips, a fresh pico de gallo salsa, tortillas, and lots of fresh veggies.

The agenda.
After dinner we moved on to coffee and tea with dessert and the panellists introduced themselves and gave a brief statement about where they were coming from and their perspective on Integrated health care. In the coming days, we will be posting more information about the content of the evenings' events, as well as setting a date and topic for the next session.

In the meantime, here are some photos from the evening:
