What we are doing with the new office space!Preliminary ideas for the new office space.
![]() At naturalhealthcare.ca we are not just talking the talk in terms of healthy living, but we are walking the walk. Here are some of the ideas we have for turning our current office space into one that is green. In terms of décor we are considering using paints that have less volatile compounds compared to commonly used paints. One that we are currently looking at using is recycled paint for the office. We're looking at manufacturers (if that is the term) so if you have any names, let us know Another idea we have is composting with worms. Composting with worms will allow us to cut down on the waste that makes it to the landfill. We've got the box and are just awaiting the arrival of our Red Wigglers. (Gisela keeps calling them "the Cadillac of worms" and giggling.) Red wiggler worms will eat most things organic. They can eat fruit/veggie scraps, bread, coffee grounds/filters, tea bags, grains, plant trimmings, paper, and leaves. (For more information go to the following link: www.cathyscomposters.com) The roof may become a green rooftop (with super foods) if it meets the structural requirements for doing so. Marie Larsson of Toronto Sprouts is bringing in a structural engineer and will be overseeing the types of plants that will be housed. Inside the office space, we are creating a green window. We are still investigating the best varieties of plants to be placed by the window which will clear toxins as well as provide fresh oxygen. One plant we are contemplating using is the snake plant. The snake plant is known for improving indoor air quality by removing toxins such as nitrogen oxide and formaldehyde. On the workplace wellness front we are going to be putting together an area with equipment for workplaces to use, including a rebounder that we already have, and additional equipment that will work in a smaller space. Stay posted as we blog our whole process of creating a green office space!
