riboflavin (vitamin b2)
once called "vitamin G", currently called riboflavin, vitamin B2 is a co-enzyme used by your body to process proteins and carbohydrates. Similar to vitamin A in that it helps the mucous membranes stay moist and healthy.
Found in: rice husks, meats, poultry, eggs, milk, fish, broccoli, mushrooms, spinach, sweet potato, pumpernickel, whole wheat breads.

Best retained in foods by: not overboiling, storing foods in opaque containers, and roasting ot broiling meats.

Deficiency (less than 10mg per day) results in: inflammation of the mouth and lips (cheilosis), followed by lesions on the mucous membranes (lips, inside of the nose, ears, eyelids, scrotum, and labia majora).
