Glossaries

In order to make sure that the content we provide is meaningful, we have also included a section called Glossaries which contains a few different pages with explanations of terms and acronyms you will find on the site. Usually we try to link the terms directly where the text uses the term, but you can also browse the list by letter.

One of the conventions of the site is to distinguish between clickable links and content that displays extra information when you mouseover text is to make the mouseovers have a dashed underline.

Among the glossaries you will find:

  • Herbology 101 which isn't so much a glossary as an interface to our database of herb information and details. It is updated daily; new herbs are added, existing ones fleshed out, all as our research is ongoing.
  • Medical Terms - definitions of ailments and other terms you will find sprinkled throughout the site.
  • Natural Remedies - balms, decoctions, unguents what they are, and where possible, how to make your own.
  • Therapy Types from Aromatherapy through Yoga, we have gathered the basics about each type of practice. This section evolves continually as we add more detail and information about each modality. The name is a bit deceptive as areas such as Midwifery and Aikido are also included in this category.
  • Accreditation is where you will find information about what each designation means that follow a Practitioner's name. Where possible we have listed what education levels must be reached in order to use the accreditation.

In addition, we have now added a Table of Contents, which takes the funtionality of the Site Map and adds descriptions of each page on the site.

Additional Applications

This is a list of links to other applications you may require when perusing our site or those of the Practitioners we host:

Potential Issues

  • In order to circumvent spammer-related web crawlers, we have converted all the at symbols (@) to the ascii code. This method of handling "mailto" functions still launches email clients correctly in newer browsers, but older or specific browsers may have trouble with them.

Internet Basics

We have provided a list of sites that are useful for newcomers to the Internet. Some will help you with the basics of Internet etiquette (often called "Netiquette") and others will help you understand what exactly the Internet is and how it works.

It's 2010. Why are we still treating the Internet like a newspaper?

That's the question we asked when planning this round of site upgrades. So, we have created a new Enhanced Listing that gives you the option of adding:
· up to 5 slides (photo, text, or a combination of the two),
· video, and
· audio to your listing profile.

See a sample of the new Enhanced Listings here.
