Lemon Thyme (Thymus serpyllum)
Also known as Wild Thyme. This perennial makes an excellent container herb, sharing the many uses of its domesticated cousin, plus a delightful lemony element that adds a brightening dimension to dishes. Thymol, an oil derived from thyme, is found in antiseptics, toothpastes and mouthwashes. Thyme oils are also prescribed to rid the body of parasites, both internal (e.g. intestinal worms) and external (e.g. lice, fleas etc.). see also Thyme.

Thyme (Thymus vulgaris)
Use: leaves flowers. Preparation: paste, salve, infusion, dried or fresh. Marvellous as a seasoning and as a remedy for ailments. Grows to about 6 to 10 inches high; best in light, well-drained sandy soil. Thymol, an oil derived from thyme, is found in antiseptics, toothpastes and mouthwashes. Thyme oils are also prescribed to rid the body of parasites, both internal (e.g. intestinal worms) and external (e.g. lice, fleas etc.).
WARNING: Excessive ingestion may cause gastrointestinal problems.
